About
Cove Early Learning Centre is a 50-space YMCA-operated childcare centre at the Cove Guest Home in Sydney that was developed to provide care for children connected to nearby long-term care staff and families, with an emphasis on intergenerational learning between children and seniors. It is planned to offer extended hours and weekend care, and the project was described as a way to support healthcare worker recruitment and retention. The centre serves children from infants through pre-k; the Nova Scotia Child Care Directory lists it as a day care facility at 45 Churchill Dr., Sydney, and the nearby YMCA/Cove materials describe the space as for young children in a 50-space setting. Its notable features include shared programming with seniors, potential activities such as storytelling, gardening, meals, and outdoor play with residents, and a focus on safe, nurturing, flexible, and affordable care.
