Parent Reviews of Jumping Jiminys Junior Care (1)
As a concerned grandparent and an educator with 15 years of experience, I feel compelled to share our experience at Jumpin Jiminy’s Daycare in Nanaimo. We were there for only two days, and unfortunately, we will not be returning. During pickup, we waited in the foyer and overheard a staff member yelling at the children to get to sleep during nap time. I was shocked and concerned by the tone used with the children. There were also serious concerns with communication and supervision. One grandson had an accident and was wearing different pants, but no one explained what happened. He appeared scared. Another came home with a Band-Aid on his knee, with no explanation of how he was injured and no incident report provided. When I asked what the children had eaten that day, staff could not tell me. I was also surprised that, as a first-time person picking up the children, no one asked who I was, my relationship to them, or verified that I was authorized to pick them up. The boys also came home the previous day unusually out of it and not acting like themselves. While there may be an explanation, combined with everything else we experienced, it raised concerns for us. The outdoor area was primarily gravel with few toys and little shade during the hottest part of the day, and we saw little evidence of meaningful programming. As an educator, I believe children deserve to be in an environment that is safe, respectful, nurturing, and professionally managed, with clear communication with families. Unfortunately, our experience left us uncomfortable and concerned. We will not be returning, and I would not recommend this daycare based on our experience.
