Licensed Before & After School Care in Unionville, ON

Before & After School Care in Unionville

Two of Unionville's ten licensed centres operate inside schools, and that shapes access more than any rating does. Upper Canada Child Care runs a site at Buttonville Public School on John Button Boulevard, and the YMCA of Greater Toronto operates a full-day programme on Coledale Road, which means enrolment at those two follows a school calendar and, in practice, tends to favour families already attached to the school community rather than working purely from a waiting list. Three of the ten have enough reviews to rate. They average 4.53 against Ontario's 4.46.

What to know about childcare in Unionville

Upper Canada Child Care at Buttonville carries the largest review base in Unionville at 4.0 across 23 reviews, and it is also the lowest-rated of the three. It Takes A Village Preschool on Village Parkway shows 5.0 over twelve. Unionville Co-operative Nursery School on Main Street sits at 4.6 over nine, and a co-operative nursery is a different proposition from full-day care, since parent participation is normally part of the arrangement and the hours rarely cover a full working day.

Read those three numbers in that order. Twenty-three reviews beats twelve.

Contactability is poor by Ontario standards. Only five of the ten listings carry a website and only six give a phone number, against a province where most centres publish both, which leaves four Unionville listings you cannot reach from this page at all. Ontario centres usually publish both. Four listings, no contact details.

Nothing on this page will tell you which Unionville centre takes a one-year-old, because Ontario's licensing extract drops the age field before it reaches us and Markham's listings are no exception to that. Unionville is a neighbourhood of Markham, not a separate town, and the wider municipal list runs into the hundreds.
