Ministère de la Famille Licensing
Bécancour is a merged municipality of separate villages strung along the south shore opposite Trois-Rivières, and that geography does more to shape your child care search than any count of services. The five listings are spread across three of those sectors. CPE Chez-Moi Chez-Toi holds installations at Bécancour proper on avenue Pierre-Robineau, at Sainte-Gertrude on rue des Pins, and at Saint-Grégoire on avenue Garon. Garderie les Apprentis-Sages sits on avenue Godefroy, and l'Académie les P'tits Bonzaï is on avenue des Pensées. Check the driving distance between sectors before you shortlist anything.
One organization holds three of the five, and it does something else worth knowing: CPE Chez-Moi Chez-Toi also acts as the bureau coordonnateur for home-based care in the area, which means the same body that runs three installations is the one that recognizes and monitors the responsables en milieu familial nearby, so a single call can tell you about both centre spaces and home spaces across a wide radius. Start there. It is the most efficient first phone call in town.
Four of the five hold subsidized places, above the Quebec average of 73.9 percent. The exception is l'Académie les P'tits Bonzaï, which charges its own daily rate, and before you rule that out it is worth running the numbers, because Quebec's refundable tax credit for child care expenses reimburses a share of what you pay at a non-subsidized garderie, and the share climbs as family income falls. Advance payments are available. Revenu Québec publishes the table each year.
Every one of the five is licensed for poupons, trottineurs and preschoolers. Quebec records these age groups completely, so that statement rests on permits rather than inference, unlike the Ontario and Saskatchewan pages on this site where most listings carry no age data at all. Licensed does not mean available. Infant places are the tightest category in almost every Quebec municipality, and a CPE with three installations may still have one waiting list for poupons.
Only Garderie les Apprentis-Sages clears our three-review threshold, at 5.0 from three Google reviews, so the whole municipality has three published opinions. Quebec's average across the 1,848 services we can rate is 4.52, which is context and not a comparison. Trois-Rivières is over the bridge with far more choice, and plenty of Bécancour families already cross it daily for work.
Verify Licensing
Confirm the centre holds a current provincial licence. A licence means the province checked baseline health, safety and staffing standards — it is a floor, not a ranking.
Read Parent Reviews
Reviews cover what an inspection report never will: what drop-off feels like, whether messages get answered, how long staff stay.
Ask About Curriculum
Ask what a Tuesday actually looks like. "Montessori" and "play-based" mean different things at different centres, so the daily schedule tells you more than the label does.
Consider Schedule Fit
Check the posted open and close times against your commute, not just your workday. Then ask what happens when you're late.
How many daycares are in Bécancour?
Five licensed services run by three operators. CPE Chez-Moi Chez-Toi holds three installations, in the Bécancour, Sainte-Gertrude and Saint-Grégoire sectors.
Which Bécancour daycares are subsidized?
Four of the five hold subsidized places. L'Académie les P'tits Bonzaï charges its own daily rate, partly recoverable through Quebec's refundable child care tax credit.
How do I find home-based child care in Bécancour?
CPE Chez-Moi Chez-Toi also serves as the bureau coordonnateur for the area, recognizing and monitoring home providers. Contact them for both centre and home spaces.
Do Bécancour daycares take infants?
All five are licensed for poupons. A licence is not an open space, and infant places fill first almost everywhere in Quebec.
Is Trois-Rivières a realistic option?
Yes. It is directly across the bridge with considerably more services, and many Bécancour residents already commute that way.
How many daycares in Becancour publish their opening hours?
2 of the 5 licensed programmes MapleCub has on file in Becancour publish their hours. The rest have not listed opening and closing times, so call to confirm.
Ask about spots near you
We email the centre and ask whether they have room for your child's age group. If they answer, we send you what they said. We don't hold live vacancy data, and centres aren't obliged to reply.
