How to get on a waitlist in Cowansville
Licensed child care in Québec is applied for through the child care registration portal (Portail d'inscription aux services de garde).
- Create your family file (a government authentication account is required).
- Once your child is born, create their file and confirm their identity within 90 days (registration isn't possible before birth).
- Add your child to the waitlist of as many child care services as you want. After priority categories, your place counts from the start date you choose (or from the day you register, if that's later).
- Keep your file up to date; you usually have one to two days to accept an offered spot.

Daycare & Childcare in Cowansville
5
Licensed centres
Every centre in Cowansville takes reduced-contribution places, every one is licensed for infants, and together they hold 374 places, which puts the town ahead of the province on both counts, since 74% of the centres in our data offer subsidized places and 81% cover the 0 to 12 month band. What Cowansville doesn't have is a review base. Not a single centre here has three. So the choosing has to be done in person.

What to know about childcare in Cowansville
Two of the five listings belong to one operator. Centre à la Petite Enfance le Papillon Bleu runs an installation on rue du Sud with 62 places and a second, les Étincelles, on boulevard J.-André-Déragon with 80, while the other three are CPE le Zèbre Carotté on rue Principale at 75 places, CPE les Tisserands on rue Laurier at 78, and Garderie Éducatif Petit Stars on rue Church at 79. Five addresses, four operators.
Opening hours are on record for three of them. Les Tisserands opens at 6:30 in the morning, both Papillon Bleu installations open at 6:45, and all three close at 6 in the evening, so if you're leaving Cowansville for a commute toward Granby or Bromont that 6:30 start is the one to note. The other two haven't said.
Four of the five list a website, but none has accumulated three or more Google reviews against roughly half of Quebec listings that have, which leaves the phone call and the site visit doing all the work of comparison here. Registration for subsidized places runs through the Portail d'inscription aux services de garde, the provincial waiting list, so put your name there before you start calling individual installations. Then ask how each list actually works. That is not a formality.

Tips for choosing childcare in Cowansville
Verify Licensing
Confirm the centre holds a current provincial licence. A licence means the province checked baseline health, safety and staffing standards. It is a floor, not a ranking.
Read Parent Reviews
Reviews cover what an inspection report never will: what drop-off feels like, whether messages get answered, how long staff stay.
Ask About Curriculum
Ask what a Tuesday actually looks like. "Montessori" and "play-based" mean different things at different centres, so the daily schedule tells you more than the label does.
Consider Schedule Fit
Check the posted open and close times against your commute, not just your workday. Then ask what happens when you're late.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do all Cowansville daycares offer subsidized places?
Yes. All five licensed centres in our Cowansville data offer reduced-contribution places, against 74% of Quebec centres overall.
