Subsidized Daycares in Cumberland

Cumberland is a family-home town. Seven of its twelve licensed providers are family childcare homes and only five are centres, which inverts the British Columbia pattern where home-based care accounts for roughly a third of listings, and it changes what a search here should look like. No Cumberland provider carries three or more Google reviews, so no local rating average exists to report, and ten of the twelve arrive with no age data at all.

What to know about childcare in Cumberland

The centres are Adventure Daycare Society, Adventure Daycare and Forest School, Euphoria Child Care, Everwild Learning and Three Tree Early Learning Center, though two of those five share the Adventure name and are very likely related operations at different sites, which is worth knowing before you count them as independent options. The family homes are Bizzy Bee, Coastal Kids, Cumberland Family Daycare, Freedom to Grow, Here We Grow, Tiny Trailblazers and TLC Family Day Care. Two listings record ages. The rest are blank.

Family homes are not a smaller version of a centre. Group sizes are lower, the same adult is present every day rather than rotating through a staffing schedule, and closures for illness or holidays land much harder because there is no second educator to cover the room. Ask about backup arrangements. That single question separates a well-run home from a fragile one faster than anything else on a first call.

Courtenay is ten minutes away with 43 listings and Comox adds 12, so a Cumberland family realistically shops the whole valley rather than the village.
