Licensed Toddler Care in Dollard Des Ormeaux, QC

Toddler Care in Dollard Des Ormeaux

Garderie le Lapin Bleu II holds 4.3 across 51 Google reviews, and that review count is an outlier for a childcare listing anywhere in this dataset. Fifty-one reviews is a real signal. Garderie Academie des Merveilles II sits higher at 5.0, on 13 reviews, which is also a solid sample by the standards of this sector. Thirteen licensed centres serve Dollard-des-Ormeaux, all of them installations rather than home-based services. Nine carry the reduced-contribution rate of $9.65 a day. Four bill market fees, a slightly higher private share than the Quebec average, which is what you would expect on the West Island.

What to know about childcare in Dollard Des Ormeaux

Ten of the 13 are licensed for infants under 12 months, and all 13 cover toddlers and preschoolers. Three start at toddler age, and because Quebec publishes permitted age groups directly, those are recorded permits rather than inferences, so an infant search in DDO can be narrowed to ten centres before you pick up a phone.

Language is the thing this dataset handles poorly for Dollard-des-Ormeaux. None of the 13 listings carries a French-language flag, and that is a data artefact rather than a fact about the city, because the flag is essentially unpopulated for Quebec across the board: it is empty for all 3,774 Quebec listings. DDO is a bilingual suburb with a large anglophone population and a large allophone one, and the centres reflect that. Ask about the language of the day.

Dollard-des-Ormeaux is a demerged city inside the Montreal agglomeration, which means some services run locally and others run through the agglomeration. Childcare placement is neither. Subsidised places in Quebec are allocated through the Portail d'inscription aux services de garde, a provincial registry, and it pools DDO with Pierrefonds, Kirkland and Pointe-Claire in practice, since parents apply across the whole West Island. Register once, broadly.

Four centres billing market rates in a market this size is worth planning around rather than avoiding, because non-subsidised garderies in Quebec often have shorter lists precisely because the sticker price is higher, and the refundable tax credit for childcare expenses closes much of that gap by the following spring. The catch is monthly cash flow. Run the numbers. You pay the full fee for a year and get the credit later, which is manageable for some households and impossible for others.
