Licensed Daycares in Invermere, BC

Daycare & Childcare in Invermere

Care in Invermere splits evenly down the middle: of the 8 licensed providers MapleCub tracks in this Columbia Valley town, 4 are centres and 4 are licensed family child care homes, a balance few markets show. Dragonfly Discovery Children's Centre is the only provider with enough Google reviews to carry a rating, at 4.4 across 7, so public scores will not carry the search here. The valley's resort economy (Panorama, the lake, a summer population that swells) shapes both demand and hours, and with the nearest larger market well over an hour away, solving care locally matters more than in most towns. All 8 providers are flagged in our data as enrolled in BC's Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative, with licensing through Interior Health.

What to know about childcare in Invermere

The even centre-home split gives Invermere families a real choice of setting. The four family child care homes run small groups in caregivers' residences (often the more flexible option for the valley's seasonal and weekend-heavy work schedules) while the four centres offer posted hours and structured programming. Homes fill quietly through word of mouth; contact all four directly rather than waiting for a listing to show an opening.

Review evidence beyond Dragonfly's 4.4 is essentially absent, which in a town of Invermere's size reflects how few parents write reviews, not provider quality. Visits, references and questions about caregiver backup arrangements (for homes) and staff tenure (for centres) do the evaluating. Age-group data is similarly thin in our dataset (7 of 8 listings carry none), so we cannot describe infant capacity; only one provider lists an under-3 band, and coverage that incomplete should not be mistaken for the market's true shape. Ask directly.

On cost, the CCFRI reduction applies at all 8 providers in our data, and BC's income-tested Affordable Child Care Benefit can lower fees further for eligible families, significant in a valley where seasonal incomes vary year to year. Cranbrook, the region's larger centre, is over an hour south; planning early within Invermere is the realistic strategy.
