Licensed Subsidized Daycares in La Prairie, QC

Subsidized Daycares in La Prairie

Just over half of La Prairie's 19 child care services (10 of them) hold reduced-contribution places, well under Quebec's provincial share of 73.9%. In a city this size that is the number that will decide your budget, because the nine services outside the subsidised network charge market fees and recover part of the gap through the provincial tax credit at year end rather than at the door. Where La Prairie does well is on evidence: 15 of the 19 services carry three or more Google reviews and average 4.61, above the Quebec average of 4.52, with eight at 4.5 or better. Garderie la Magie des Calinours and CPE les Petites Souris - Installation la Maison des Bambins both show 5.0 from 13 reviews, which is a sturdier basis than the four- and five-review scores that dominate most small cities. All 19 are licensed for toddlers and preschoolers; 16 take infants.

What to know about childcare in La Prairie

Sort by funding status before anything else. Ten services offer places at the reduced contribution ($9.65 a day now, $10.60 from January 2027) and nine do not. Over a year that difference runs to thousands of dollars in cash flow even after the tax credit, and the credit arrives long after the fees are paid. Being on the subsidised side of that line is worth more than a few tenths of a rating point, so build your list from the ten first and treat the other nine as a genuine but more expensive fallback.

The review picture here is better than most cities of this size can offer. Fifteen of 19 services have been reviewed at least three times, so the 4.61 average covers nearly the whole pool rather than a self-selected slice. Two services sit at 5.0 across 13 reviews each (Garderie la Magie des Calinours and CPE les Petites Souris - Installation la Maison des Bambins) and CPE Mon Monde à Moi - Installation la Prairie shows 5.0 across 10. Thirteen families agreeing is still not a large sample, but it is meaningfully better than the three or four that carry most listings in this dataset, and it means the top of the La Prairie list is worth taking seriously.

Sixteen of 19 services are licensed for infants. As everywhere in Quebec, pouponnière ratios mean each licence covers a small number of places, so start with the Portail d'inscription aux services de garde and register while you are still on leave. Your position dates from enrolment, and on the South Shore the lists do not shorten. One structural note: our Quebec data covers installations only, so milieu familial options in La Prairie exist but are coordinated through a bureau coordonnateur and will not appear in these listings.
