26 licensed daycares in Pitt Meadows, BC

Daycare & Childcare in Pitt Meadows

Pitt Meadows is one of Metro Vancouver's smaller childcare markets, but the 26 licensed programs MapleCub tracks here cover real range: 17 centre-based programs and 9 family dayhomes, all licensed through Fraser Health and all participating in BC's Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI), which lowers posted fees before you apply for anything else. Ratings run high: a 4.75 average across the 8 providers with at least 3 Google reviews, above the BC-wide 4.61, though with a review base that thin, treat scores as a starting point rather than a verdict. Bright Butterfly Child Care Centre (5.0 across 16 reviews), Happy Kids Castle Daycare (5.0 across 14) and Windy Willows Environmental Centre (5.0 across 11) are the most consistently reviewed names in town. One planning note: our dataset shows infant licensing at only 2 of the 26 programs, but age information is missing for most Pitt Meadows listings, so if you have a baby under 12 months, call providers directly rather than ruling anyone out.

What to know about childcare in Pitt Meadows

The centre-versus-dayhome split matters more in a small city than a big one. Pitt Meadows' 17 centres are where most of the licensed capacity sits, but the 9 registered family dayhomes are a meaningful share of the market: smaller group sizes, one consistent caregiver, and often more flexibility on hours for parents commuting into Vancouver on the West Coast Express. Both types are licensed and inspected by Fraser Health, and you can look up a facility's inspection history through the health authority before you tour.

On quality signals, be honest with yourself about the evidence. Only 8 of 26 providers have three or more Google reviews, and 6 of those 8 sit at 4.5 stars or higher. Bright Butterfly Child Care Centre and Happy Kids Castle Daycare both hold perfect 5.0 ratings on 16 and 14 reviews respectively (a reasonably solid base for a city this size), while Windy Willows Environmental Centre pairs its 5.0 (11 reviews) with an outdoor, nature-based program that's uncommon in the area. A dayhome with two glowing reviews isn't worse than these; it's just unmeasured.

Money-wise, BC families in Pitt Meadows benefit from CCFRI at every provider MapleCub tracks here: the fee reduction is applied automatically by the provider, worth up to about $900 a month for centre-based care for children under three. On top of that, the income-tested Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB) can cut costs further for households earning under roughly $111,000. You apply for that one yourself through the province.

The practical squeeze is age coverage. Our data shows only 2 programs licensed for infants and 2 offering school-age care, and 23 of 26 listings don't report age groups at all, so the true numbers are higher, but infant spots in particular are scarce everywhere in Metro Vancouver. If you're expecting, get on waitlists during pregnancy, and ask each centre when their toddler-room transitions open up, since that's usually the easier entry point.
