Licensed Preschool in Varennes, QC

Preschool in Varennes

Varennes has 14 licensed childcare centres, and the thing that separates it from its Monteregie neighbours is what happens at the youngest end. Eight of the 14 are licensed for infants under 12 months. All 14 take toddlers and preschoolers. So six centres in town simply don't start until a child is walking, which is a wider gap than in Sainte-Julie or Boisbriand, and it is the first thing to check if you are booking care for a baby rather than a two-year-old.

What to know about childcare in Varennes

On ratings, the sample is small. Three centres have three or more reviews, averaging 4.73. Garderie Educative et Pre-Maternelle les Chabichoux and Garderie Educative Mimi Pinson both hold 5.0, on five and four reviews. Les Flamboyants de Varennes sits at 4.2 across 17, which is the only score here with any real weight behind it, and a 4.2 on seventeen reviews tells you more than a 5.0 on four.

Twelve of the 14 carry the $9.65 reduced-contribution rate. Two bill market fees. That ratio is a little better than the Quebec average of roughly three in four, and in a town of 21,000 on the south shore it means cost is mostly not the variable you are optimising. Availability is.

Varennes runs along the St. Lawrence east of Montreal, and most working parents here cross to the island or drive to the industrial park along Route 132. Both commutes are long enough that a centre's hours matter more than its programme. The centres cluster near the older village core and along boulevard de la Marine. The Portail d'inscription aux services de garde handles subsidised placement across Quebec, so register there as soon as your child is born, well before your desired start date, then phone the centres to ask where you sit. Early means early.
