Preschool in Quispamsis

Quispamsis is where many Saint John commuters raise their kids, and its child care market is built almost entirely around centres: 33 of the town's 37 licensed providers are centre-based, leaving just 4 licensed home-based options, one of the thinnest family-care layers of any New Brunswick community in MapleCub's data. What the market lacks in home settings it makes up in age spread. Thirteen providers hold infant approvals, 25 cover preschoolers, and 23 take school-age children, a balance that mirrors life in the Kennebecasis Valley, where before-and-after-school care is as sought-after as full-day spots. Five providers operate primarily in French, serving the area's francophone minority. Every facility is licensed by New Brunswick's Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. MapleCub does not yet include Google review data for New Brunswick, so no ratings appear on these listings: use the licensing information here to build a shortlist, then judge quality the old-fashioned way, in person.

What to know about childcare in Quispamsis

The defining fact about child care in Quispamsis is the near-absence of licensed home-based care: 4 providers out of 37. Families who specifically want a small home setting (common for infants) will find the local supply close to nil and may need to look toward Rothesay or Saint John proper. The flip side is that the town's 33 centres give parents comparing structured programs plenty to work with, and centre capacity spans every age band rather than clustering at preschool.

By licence, 13 of 37 providers are approved for infants, 25 for preschool ages and 23 for school-age children. That school-age figure matters in a commuter town: with both parents often on Saint John schedules, before-and-after-school programs carry much of the load, and nearly two-thirds of local providers are approved to offer them. A caution on reading the age data: New Brunswick records in our dataset don't carry a separate toddler category, so preschool-approved facilities frequently accept younger children: always confirm the actual starting age.

Cost hinges on New Brunswick's designation system rather than list price. Designated early learning and child care facilities cap daily fees for children under six under the Canada–New Brunswick agreement, and the provincial parent subsidy adds income-based help on top. MapleCub doesn't yet track which Quispamsis facilities hold designation, so make it your first question when you call: the difference between a designated and non-designated centre can be substantial over a year.

No ratings appear on this page because Google review coverage for New Brunswick isn't in our dataset yet; that's a gap in the data, not a verdict on any provider. Check licences and inspection histories through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, visit during program hours, and ask centres how they handle the valley's school calendars: storm days and March break coverage are where Quispamsis parents most often discover the fine print.
