Licensed Preschool in Upper Tantallon, NS

Preschool in Upper Tantallon

One organisation runs four of the seven licensed providers in Upper Tantallon. The five centres that report capacity hold 491 licensed spaces. None has a public review. That is the Nova Scotia norm rather than a local peculiarity. Two of the seven are approved for infants and five for toddlers, which is more age detail than Nova Scotia listings usually carry and makes this page more useful than most in the province.

What to know about childcare in Upper Tantallon

Giant Steps Children's Centre is the organisation in question. That includes a family home agency, the French Village site at 164 spaces, a Wyndham Drive site at 86 and a fourth entry at 54. So one organisation holds well over half the licensed capacity here, which matters when someone tells you the waitlist is long. One list, not four.

Fox Hollow Child Care Centre runs two more. It has a 50-space centre and a family home agency of its own, which means the two largest organisations here account between them for six of the seven listings a parent will find on this page, and only one entry on the list is answerable to nobody else. Friends for Life Early Learning is the one fully independent centre. It holds 137 spaces, and it is the listing to start with if you would rather your first choice and your second choice did not answer to the same board, draw on the same staffing pool and share a single waiting list between them. Upper Tantallon sits inside Halifax Regional Municipality, along St. Margarets Bay. Both the Canada-wide fee reductions and the provincial subsidy apply here, and Halifax proper is close enough that widening the search toward Bayers Lake or Clayton Park is realistic if nothing local opens up before you need it.
