Ministère de la Famille Licensing
Prévost has six licensed centres and not one of them reaches 4.5. That is the plain reading of the ratings, and it is worth stating because it is rare. Garderie Clos des Petits Hiboux and its second site both sit at 4.2 from 25 ratings each, Ateliers Éducatifs Caroline et Ses Amis sits at 4.0 from four, and the resulting town average of 4.13 is the lowest ceiling on any Québec page we published this month. That is not nothing. Three carry no ratings. All three are CPE installations, and in Québec that silence is routine rather than a warning.
The two Clos des Petits Hiboux entries share an identical rating and an identical review count, 4.2 from 25, which almost always means one Google listing serving two sites rather than fifty separate opinions. Read it as one operator. Those 25 ratings are still the largest sample in Prévost, so the comments there are the most useful reading on this page, though you should not count the review base twice when you weigh it against a centre that has none.
Centre de la Petite Enfance l'Abri-Doux runs two installations here and le Sentier du Bonheur runs a third. All three are subsidized. They are also the only subsidized places in town, and because the three rated garderies all sit outside the subsidized system, the choice between price and published opinion is unusually stark in Prévost. Le Sentier du Bonheur also operates in Sainte-Sophie, so one waiting list may tell you something about the other.
Prévost sits on the Rivière du Nord between Saint-Jérôme and Sainte-Adèle, and the commute down the 15 shapes a lot of childcare decisions. Saint-Jérôme has far more capacity. If you are driving south anyway, widening the search by ten kilometres roughly triples the number of licensed places you can reach, which for a family sitting on three waiting lists is usually the fastest change available.

Verify Licensing
Confirm the centre holds a current provincial licence. A licence means the province checked baseline health, safety and staffing standards. It is a floor, not a ranking.
Read Parent Reviews
Reviews cover what an inspection report never will: what drop-off feels like, whether messages get answered, how long staff stay.
Ask About Curriculum
Ask what a Tuesday actually looks like. "Montessori" and "play-based" mean different things at different centres, so the daily schedule tells you more than the label does.
Consider Schedule Fit
Check the posted open and close times against your commute, not just your workday. Then ask what happens when you're late.
