How to get on a waitlist in Sainte-Sophie
Licensed child care in Québec is applied for through the child care registration portal (Portail d'inscription aux services de garde).
- Create your family file (a government authentication account is required).
- Once your child is born, create their file and confirm their identity within 90 days (registration isn't possible before birth).
- Add your child to the waitlist of as many child care services as you want. After priority categories, your place counts from the start date you choose (or from the day you register, if that's later).
- Keep your file up to date; you usually have one to two days to accept an offered spot.

Ministère de la Famille Licensing
Two of the six listings in Sainte-Sophie belong to Garderie au Coeur des Bois, which runs a second site under the same name and carries the same 5.0 from ten ratings on both. Another two belong to Centre de la Petite Enfance le Sentier du Bonheur. So the six are four. Four operators, not six independent choices, and that is the first thing to sort out before you compare anything below, because two of those four operators are otherwise counted twice.

What to know about childcare in Sainte Sophie
The town's most-reviewed provider is Garderie les Petits Dauphins, 4.6 from 11 ratings. It is also the only unsubsidized one. That puts the usual Québec trade-off into a single line: the provider with the most parent feedback is the one where you pay a market rate and claim the tax credit back later, while the five subsidized places charge $9.65 a day. Between them those five carry ten ratings, all belonging to au Coeur des Bois. The rest are silent.
Sainte-Sophie is spread out. It covers roughly 90 square kilometres north of Saint-Jérôme with no dense centre, so the practical distance between two listings on this page can be fifteen minutes even though both carry a Sainte-Sophie address. Check where the installation actually sits before you rank it. Centre de la Petite Enfance la Joyeuse Équipée and le Sentier du Bonheur are the two subsidized options with no ratings at all, which for a CPE that fills through the Portail d'inscription aux services de garde is entirely unremarkable.

Tips for choosing childcare in Sainte Sophie
Verify Licensing
Confirm the centre holds a current provincial licence. A licence means the province checked baseline health, safety and staffing standards. It is a floor, not a ranking.
Read Parent Reviews
Reviews cover what an inspection report never will: what drop-off feels like, whether messages get answered, how long staff stay.
Ask About Curriculum
Ask what a Tuesday actually looks like. "Montessori" and "play-based" mean different things at different centres, so the daily schedule tells you more than the label does.
Consider Schedule Fit
Check the posted open and close times against your commute, not just your workday. Then ask what happens when you're late.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many daycares are in Sainte-Sophie?
Six licensed listings, held by four operators. Garderie au Coeur des Bois and CPE le Sentier du Bonheur each account for two.
Which Sainte-Sophie daycare has the most reviews?
Garderie les Petits Dauphins, at 4.6 from 11 ratings. It is also the only provider in town without subsidized places.
Do Sainte-Sophie daycares take subsidized places?
Five of the six do, at the reduced contribution rate of $9.65 a day in 2026.
How many daycares in Sainte Sophie publish their opening hours?
5 of the 6 licensed programmes MapleCub has on file in Sainte Sophie publish their hours. The rest have not listed opening and closing times, so call to confirm.
How many daycares in Sainte Sophie have Google ratings?
4 carry a public Google rating with five or more reviews. Centres with fewer reviews than that are listed too, without a rating, because a rating built on two reviews is not evidence.
Which daycares in Sainte Sophie have the strongest Google ratings?
Among Sainte Sophie centres with enough reviews to judge, Garderie au Coeur des Bois holds 5.0★ (10 reviews), Garderie au Coeur des Bois 2 holds 5.0★ (10 reviews), and Centre de la Petite Enfance la Joyeuse Équipée - Installation Sainte-Sophie holds 5.0★ (7 reviews). A small number of reviews is weak evidence: treat a handful of 5-star ratings as a starting point, not proof of quality.
