Licensed Subsidized Daycares in Saint Colomban, QC

Subsidized Daycares in Saint Colomban

Five of the six licensed centres in Saint-Colomban hold subsidized places, so most families here pay the reduced contribution of $9.65 a day rather than a rate the operator sets on its own, which across the Laurentians is the single largest cost difference between two otherwise similar centres. Garderie les Chatouilles 2010 is the exception. It is a garderie non subventionnée, which means its own fee schedule and the provincial tax credit at tax time. The rated providers average 4.70. That sits above the Québec figure of 4.52, though it rests on three centres and 25 ratings between them, which is a sample thin enough that one unhappy family next month would move it.

What to know about childcare in Saint Colomban

Garderie Couleurs Nature and Centre de la Petite Enfance Minipuces both sit at 5.0, from nine and seven ratings respectively. One outlier sits below. Garderie les P'Tits Soleils Enchantés 2 averages 4.1, also from nine ratings. Nine ratings is enough to notice a pattern and not enough to be sure of one, so the gap between 5.0 and 4.1 here is something to read through rather than something to trust, especially in a town where three of the six centres have no published feedback at all.

Minipuces does not list poupon places. It takes toddlers from 18 months and preschoolers, so families needing infant care have five options in town rather than six.

Centre de la Petite Enfance les Petits Baluchons runs two of the six listings, its Petits Baluchons and Lutins Enchanteurs installations. Neither has a rating. Together they are the largest single source of subsidized places in Saint-Colomban, which makes that waiting list the one most worth joining early even though there is nothing published to judge it by and nothing to compare it against.

Saint-Colomban grew fast. It is one of the faster-growing municipalities in the Laurentians and much of it is low-density housing built on former woodland, which means a lot of young families and a lot of driving. There is no transit to speak of. Where a centre sits relative to the route into Saint-Jérôme will matter more to your morning than anything on its licence.

If nothing here works, Saint-Jérôme, Mirabel and Sainte-Sophie all border the municipality and all hold more licensed capacity. The Portail d'inscription aux services de garde lets you sit on several waiting lists at once. You should use it.
